Business: The Micro Business Theory

Short Synopsis

Using multiple sources of income from various low profit and low overhead businesses to create a substantial and sustainable income every month.

Report

When most people finally decide to go into business for themselves more than half will do some research and finally decide to quit.  The rest will decide on travelling the well beaten path of large corporations and franchises. There is nothing wrong with that of course.  Owning a business isn't for everyone and if you have the time, resources and finances to go actually buy into a franchise then by all means do so.  Corporations with a brand name and proven saleability always has the potential to earn.  There is of course those of us who have none of the prerequisites to successfully apply and obtain such a lucrative venture and that's where the micro business system comes in.

The idea of the micro business venture is to establish small self sustaining businesses with low start-up cost, low overhead and minimal gain.  I realize that the idea of minimal gain isn't a mouth watering concept but remember that this will be one part in 50 or potentially more.  In essence you could multiply your earnings by 10, 20, 30 or more.

Example 1  (Very Low Cost)

  1. If you are like most people then you own at least a car and a phone.  You start a small business where you arrange to pick up elderly woman and take them shopping.  You help them with their groceries, buying, transporting, carrying etc. for a small fee.
  2. Let's say you know someone who owns a people mover type vehicle.  If they agree you start a pickup/dropoff service from airports or surrounding towns.  Your friend does the driving while you manage the business end of things and take 25% of the earnings.  So if your friend transports 5 people each for the cost of $100.00 that makes a total of $500.00 of which you get $125.00.
  3. Next gather some friends each with a chilly bin and pack it full of various non-alcoholic drinks* and non perishable foods such as dried fruit or nuts.  You obtain permission to set up shop at your local sport event, doesn't matter if it's inter school or international.  You promise your friends the lion share of whatever they sell while you take a management fee of say 25%.
Now you have 3 businesses each earning you a small amount of money for little effort.
* Selling alcohol requires a license.

Example 2 (Low Cost)

  1. You start a vegetable garden and grow various vegetables and sell them to your neighbours for much lower than they would get them from the local supermarket.  Also you can tell them that you don't use any toxins or chemicals when growing your produce* and they are guaranteed the freshest vegetables possible without it having been hauled across the country on gas heavy trucks.  (Have a look at Vegetable Gardening for Dummies)
  2. Buying and selling is always a big option and with today's technology it is possible to have everything automated.  You start with an email address that has an automatic reply option.  You find a wholesaler that ships it products directly. Find your product.  List product on a bidding site such as eBay with a new price (wholesale price + delivery + 25% profit margin).  Every time a sale is made an e-mail is sent to your e-mail with the automatic reply.  The Auto reply sends the order to the wholesaler with your billing details and they supply and ship the order directly to the buyer.
  3. Advertising has always been the backbone of sales.  This makes sense of course considering no-one is going to buy your product if they don't know it exists.  Starting a small advertising circular requires little effort; it's fun to do and makes decent money.  You can make a deal with your local printer for discounts on mass printing.  If you need to convince someone why they should advertise with you tell them that your circular is local (so the people reading it are the people most likely to be their customers) It's printed monthly so it lasts longer than a daily newspaper and its free so it distributes like wildfire.  If you want to make it last longer then include some games, articles of use or anything that strikes your fancy. You'll need a few things before getting started.
    1. A publishing program such as Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Indesign (not strictly necessary but it makes things easier.)
    2. A P.O Box for receiving cheques,
    3. A bank account for receiving deposits.
* only tell people this if it is indeed the case. Remember that reputation is very important and if you're caught in a lie then you damage your saleability.
