Law: My Senses Have Been Stripped
I think
that most people have a natural urge to confess. The urge to break their silence spilling
secret and soul. Keeping silent is an extremely
difficult thing to do and it takes a special kind of mindset to live with the
consequences of one’s actions.
Sycophants
and psychopaths have such qualities in abundance but it’s not limited to
them. Soldiers and spies have long since
been trained in the ways of golden silence.
There is an
emotional need accompanying the desire to speak, it doesn't really matter what
about as long as it breaks the silence.
Trained interrogators start off by trying to establish a rapport and
slowly coax the information out of them.
They’ll
start off with something small, something that has absolutely nothing to do
with anything and therefore there’s no need to guard it so jealously.
Eventually
talking turns to engaging and soon a regular back and forth comes to light and
the interviewee starts to relax a little.
The interviewer/interrogator; treading carefully; will start steering
the conversation towards his own interests easing his victim along all the way.
In a
heartbeat a transfer of power had taken place. Somehow he’d started telling about his family
troubles and ended up divulging sensitive information. It happened because he wanted it to
happen. Somewhere subconsciously there
was that need to confess.
That was
step one and is usually enough for most.
But there is a second step. In
step two when the interviewee finally manages to catch on and starts “clamming
up” the interrogator throws the information that was acquired back at the
interviewee.
The
interrogator becomes violent and unreasonable, flinging questions in rapid
succession, taking apart and questioning everything that is said. The interviewee is off balance and attempts
to hide behind thinly veiled and often contradictory lies.
The interrogator
will keep pushing and twisting every sentence.
Shifting between lie and truth back and forth until the eventual fail
the interviewee will finally cave and try to justify his actions with divulging
information against his self interest. Climax. Fade To Black.
