Environment: Streaking Across The Sun
The times have changed
and the human race is struggling to keep pace. In the last few years every time
you hear a news report it seems that another fire is blazing out of control,
another hurricane or tornado has destroyed and demolished people, homes and
morale.
Floods have washed away
people and property alike and another earthquake has claimed more lives. Death
is truly the ultimate equalizer.
Theories regarding the
causes are far and wide with a mix of personal opinion thrown in it comes down
to either God punishing us for our sins and trespasses or the complete atrophy
of human kind.
We drill holes in the
earth for fossil fuels, burn down forests for malls and movies, we are slow to
diminish our carbon footprint on the atmosphere and we’ve poisoned and polluted
quite a few species to extinction (or close to it) along the way.
It’s not all bad
however; we have made significant advances in home entertainment and personal
grooming.
The advance in home
entertainment are numerous indeed starting with improved video formats,
resolution, games and game consoles, television sets and the art of sitting
down.
We killed a few species
but at least we won’t miss the game.
Homophobia, social
phobia, xenophobia and new phobias TBA are all the rage in a
modern society.
Wanting World Peace
might be noble but is it obtainable? While the world gives us plenty of
natural disaster to deal with terrorism continues to destroy anything different
in the name of religion.
Terrorists do their
best to destroy a country known for the phrase Truth, Liberty and
Justice for All...who could possibly want that?
But of course it’s easy
to complain. Destruction comes more easily and readily than
creation. Reduce, re-use, recycle. We need to find a way to build
self sustained houses with all the comforts of modern times while maintaining
the GREEN ideal.
Hydro-electricity,
magnetic generators, wind turbines, compost bins, recycle bins and more can all
be easily integrated into a person’s home. It has the added benefit of
keeping the lights on (and possibly more) while being completely self
sufficient (no more electric bills).
I am not advocating
living in a tree, that’s for them nature lovers. I am just trying to make
our planet last. It’s the only one we got (so far). Plus going
green can save you green.
